History of Cresswood Shredding Machinery
In 1963 Ron Cress founded Dun-Rite Tool & Machine Co. which is the parent company of Cresswood Shredding Machinery in a rented two-car garage. In 1970, a 10,000 square foot building was erected at our present location to house the growing business. In 1978, the building had grown to 35,000 square feet, and the business had expanded to include “steel fabrication”. In 1990, another building of 20,000 square feet was added to bring us to our current 55,000 square feet which houses our machine shop, our fabricating shop, and our assembly area.
Cresswood is a division of Dun-Rite Tool & Machine Co, a tool and die maker by trade. We serve a customer base of industrial clients throughout the Midwest. Dun-Rite has designed, manufactured, rebuilt and maintained process equipment for production environments since 1963. Cresswood was originally called Cresswood Stove Works Inc. in the late 1970’s when we designed and built combustion equipment for the residential and commercial customer. Later we changed our focus to building shredders/grinders and changed our name to Cresswood Recycling Systems which has since been renamed to Cresswood Shredding Machinery. All of Cresswood’s machines, conveyors, cutter heads and tooling have been built within Dun-Rite Tool & Machine’s 55,000 square foot manufacturing plant in Northern Illinois. This concentration of engineering, manufacturing and quality control in one location gives our customers “one source responsibility.”
The machines are customized to fit our customers’ particular application needs. Rotor designs are available to handle specific wood, plastic, or paper applications. By using various sizes and types of cutters, cutter placements, and rotor designs, we are able to maximize the output potential for all types of operations.
